PROCESS TECHNICIAN I
TRAVERSE CITY, MI - PLANT
The Process Technician I is responsible for supporting daily production operations by safely operating manufacturing equipment, assembling automotive components, and ensuring products meet Lear's quality standards. This entry-level role focuses on building foundational technical skills while contributing to efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement efforts across the plant.
The Role
Operate basic manufacturing and assembly equipment in accordance with standard work instructions
Perform manual and automated assembly of automotive components (e.g., seating, interior trim, electrical systems)
Inspect parts and finished products to ensure quality and compliance with specifications
Identify and report production issues, defects, or equipment malfunctions to supervision
Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements and lockout/tagout practices
Maintain clean, organized workstations in accordance with 5S standards
Accurately complete production and quality documentation as required
Support line changeovers, material handling, and basic equipment adjustments
Work collaboratively with team members to meet production targets and customer demand
Participate in continuous improvement, training, and plant initiatives as assigned
Your Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions and safety guidelines
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn manufacturing processes
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
Ability to lift up to [30-50 lbs., as applicable]
Basic math and measurement skills
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Bonus if you have:
Previous experience in a manufacturing or automotive environment
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement concepts
Basic experience with hand tools, power tools, or automated equipment
Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting
