Overview
Performs tool work on plant equipment operations, installs/repairs equipment and components. Has overall responsibility for facility maintenance.
Responsibilities
Performs precise tool work
Performs complex troubleshooting of electrical/mechanical equipment
Modifies programming of robots and related equipment such as robot controllers and programmable controllers
Installs equipment, components and systems with and without outside services
Plans, builds and installs new machinery at an engineering level
Advises manufacturing of suggestions that would optimize production and minimize downtime and scrap
Maintains good housekeeping
Recognizes safety hazards on equipment and in the plant and initiates corrective action
Follows lockout procedures and all safety rules in the facility
Performs and maintains preventative maintenance program
Requisitions and keeps supply of spare parts; knowledge of proper purchasing procedures
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew
Maintains time and production records
Must have ability to perform duties and responsibilities of lower maintenance classifications
Ability to interpret electrical/mechanical sketches, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation
Knowledge of applicable electrical codes normally found in a manufacturing environment
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with emphasis in electrical training; or five or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATH ABILITY
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software and Microsoft Office software.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES
Journeyman electrician certification preferred; Valid Fork Lift License.
