Overview
The Brake Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining brake press machines to bend, form, and shape metal components according to specifications. This role ensures high-quality production while maintaining safety, efficiency, and adherence to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate brake press machines to bend and form metal parts per blueprints and work instructions
Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders to determine correct tooling and setup
Select, install, and adjust tooling, dies, and machine settings for optimal performance
Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure quality standards are met
Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed to maintain product accuracy
Measure finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area
Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve issues and improve processes
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
1-3+ years of experience operating brake press or similar metal fabrication equipment preferred
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Experience with CNC brake press machines (preferred)
Basic math skills, including measuring and calculating angles and dimensions
Ability to use precision measuring tools (calipers, angle finder, scale)
