Role Overview
The CSBG Program Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the self-sufficiency programs, working directly with the Community Resource Coordinator and Community Resource Specialists. This role includes acting as the office main receptionist, maintaining accurate client records, assisting with electronic assistance applications, and helping households navigate resources. The Program Assistant ensures that clients and staff have the tools and support they need to achieve program objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Support and Client Assistance
- Acts as receptionist and serves as the first point of contact for callers and walk-in clients, helping identify eligibility for mainstream resource benefits and providing appropriate referrals.
- Assist clients and households with completing electronic assistance applications, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to program requirements.
- Notify and process records for households ineligible for self-sufficiency services, ensuring clear communication and proper documentation.
2. Resource Knowledge and Collaboration
- Maintain a working knowledge of EightCAP programs and local resources to benefit low-income households.
- Collaborate with the Community Resource Coordinator and Specialists to enhance service delivery and client outcomes.
3. Data Entry and Record Maintenance
- Ensure accurate and timely client record entry into the agency's database, adhering to data quality standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of all client and organizational information, following privacy and data protection policies.
4. Program Support
- Participate in training sessions to stay informed about program requirements and resource updates.
- Assist with administrative tasks and other program-related duties as needed to support team goals.
5. Other Duties as Assigned
- Adapt to organizational needs by taking on additional responsibilities that support the agency’s mission and goals.

Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with low-income households, including volunteer experience.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Reliable transportation with a valid Michigan driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. Successful clearance of DHS Central Registry, Criminal History Record Check, and ICHAT.
Preferred:
Associate’s Degree in a related field.
Background in customer service or non-profit office work.
