Summary of Position

Niles Industrial Coatings, LLC is a privately held and financially strong industrial services company that prides itself on the safety of its workers. Niles is looking for a full-time Mechanical Restoration Technician to assist in the restoration, repair, and maintenance of air handling units in commercial, industrial, and institutional settings. This position involves hands-on mechanical work, including disassembly, cleaning, repair, and reassembly of the units and associated components. The ideal candidate has experience with mechanical systems, basic hand tools, and a strong work ethic.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist in the restoration and repair of air handling units, including fans, dampers, coils, and insulation.
2. Perform cleaning, sanding, coating, and sealing of AHU components to improve efficiency and extend operational life.
3. Use hand and power tools to disassemble and reassemble mechanical parts.
4. Replace worn or damaged components such as bearings, belts, motors, and filters.
5. Apply protective coatings and sealants to prevent corrosion and air leaks.
6. Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
7. Work in confined spaces and adhere to ventilation and safety regulations.
8. Collaborate with technicians and supervisors to complete projects efficiently.
9. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
10. Travel to job sites and assist in equipment transport as needed.
11. Requires working in varying conditions, including hot, cold, and humid environments.
12. May involve exposure to dust, dirt, and chemical coatings (with proper PPE provided).
13. Some overnight travel may be required depending on project locations.

Required Qualifications

1. Previous experience in mechanical restoration, HVAC, or general labor preferred.
2. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and mechanical measuring devices.
3. Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, bend, kneel, and work in tight spaces.
4. Willingness to work in various environments, including rooftops, mechanical rooms, and industrial facilities
5. Basic understanding of mechanical systems and airflow principles is a plus.
6. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to OSHA guidelines.
7. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.

Technical Skills

1. Experience in HVAC, sheet metal work, or industrial equipment restoration is preferred.
2. Knowledge of protective coatings and insulation applications is a plus.
3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints or schematics.
