Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is currently looking for a Paralegal at its Superior Township, MI location to perform the following duties:
An excellent communicator, team player, detail-oriented, willing to learn, self-motivated, confident, and interested in helping create a happy, healthy, and productive work environment on the Legal Team. The ideal candidate must possess planning and organizational skills, the ability to adapt to changing priorities, be deadline-driven, have sound judgment and decision-making skills, be able to effectively handle sensitive and confidential information, work well under pressure and be a multitasker. This Legal Assistant role is a wonderful opportunity to work with a diverse group of highly driven team members.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Immigration and Employment - Draft and prepare employment based nonimmigrant visa petitions; prepare and maintain case records and required audit files; develop, maintain, and distribute guidance materials for employees and management on immigration compliance; assist with drafting and reviewing employment-related documents; conduct legal research on labor and employment issues; support the legal team and HR in implementing and updating employment policies; and monitor and research law changes.
Compliance and Export Control - Assist in drafting, updating, and maintaining the company's export control policies, manuals, andguidance; help develop internal compliance training for employees; conduct periodic compliance monitoring; facilitate internal and external compliance audits; and monitor and research changes in federal regulations.
Document Retention and Privacy - Help draft and update data privacy policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with relevant privacy regulations; monitor and research changes in federal regulations;monitor, maintain, and track document retention and performance; and administer and enforce the company's document retention and legal hold policies.
Corporate Governance - Assist with corporate governance matters including meeting minutes and consents, business licenses, and corporate filings; legal development of corporate governance policies and procedures ensuring compliance with regulations and legal requirements; help organize and maintain the legal department's documents and records; and track, review, edit, and update company policies and procedures.
The legal team also performs functions in the following areas, and the Paralegal may be assigned responsibilities in the following areas depending on workload:
Commercial
Real Estate
Governance
Litigation
Insurance
Vehicle Administration

Demonstrate strict attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in work
Possess prompt responsiveness to internal client requests with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and be self-motivated
Willingness to work in a team-based environment with collaboration among co-workers
Ability to organize and prioritize an ever-changing workload
Proficient with Computer and especially Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
Notary preferred but not required
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
Bachelor's degree
