The Natural Hazards and Climate Resilience Consultant is responsible for evaluating and managing risks related to natural hazards and climate change affecting properties, infrastructure, and operations.
This role involves conducting hazard assessments, developing loss estimates and risk mitigation strategies, supporting underwriting or project teams, and communicating technical findings to clients or stakeholders.Work Style: 100% virtual

Hazard and Risk Assessment:
Analyze exposure to hazards (flood, hurricane, severe convective storm, wildfire, heat etc.) for properties, infrastructure, or portfolios using scientific models, GIS tools, and historical data.
Conduct on-site risk surveys and desk-based reviews to evaluate vulnerability to multiple hazards.
Develop loss estimates for current and future conditions using Aon's tools and software.
Risk Mitigation & Recommendations:
Develop and recommend engineering solutions and risk mitigation measures to increase resilience and reduce potential losses.
Advise on design and construction practices that reduce risk and improve resilience.
Reporting and Communication:
Prepare clear, concise technical reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
Communicate risk insights to internal teams, clients, or stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into actionable advice.
Support Underwriting/Project Teams:
Provide technical input to underwriting, claims, or project teams regarding natural hazard and climate risks and loss estimates.
Assist in the development and refinement of risk models and databases.
Continuous Learning & Research:
Stay updated on advances in hazard modeling, climate science, and engineering standards.
Participate in industry forums, conferences, or working groups as needed.Skills and experience that will lead to success:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geoscience, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
Professional license (e.g., PE, CEng) is an advantage.
Proficiency in engineering-related concepts in risk, statistics and probability.
Experience in natural hazards and climate risk assessments and mitigation/resilience design, with one or more hazards such as flood, wind, severe convective storm, wildfire, heat.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to conduct risk assessments, evaluate adaptation options, perform cost-benefit analysis, and develop data-driven recommendations.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Excellent communication skills are a must.Additional Preferred Skills
Familiarity with GIS, catastrophe modeling software and data analysis tools.
Knowledge of building codes, design and resilience standards, and climate adaptation practices.
Experience in consulting or client-facing environments.
Experience in the insurance industry.
Experience in using Artificial Intelligence.
