Job Summary
The Data Steward is at the forefront of accelerating the modernization of the business unit's data ecosystem by overseeing and maintaining the data integrity, quality, and security of its critical data assets. This role is a data expert who acts on behalf of the business unit to ensure the data governance is implemented and enforced across the data ecosystem. This position will partner with senior business leaders, local and global data owners, and other data stewards to identify, inventory, and properly manage critical data and ensure that global and local data governance policies and rules are enforced. Data quality monitoring and bringing resolution to supply chain data discrepancies will be a central focus of the daily responsibilities.Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
Identify, catalog, and steward all critical data assets, elements, and metadata on behalf of the business unit.
Partner with local and global data owners and other data stewards in development of global and local data policies and rules as part of data governance council and activities.
Develop and maintain local data standards, data definitions, data quality rules, data integrity rules and collaborate globally with other data stewards in development of global standards.
Establish and document local data steward workflows and collaborate with other data stewards to define standard workflows.
Partner with data architects, data engineers, and technology teams to ensure that new technology and data solutions are congruent with the data governance program and strategies.
Champion the maintenance of all locally owned master data sets.
Establish, maintain, and regularly report on data quality key performance indicators and routinely monitor critical data quality.
Actively identify data quality issues, oversee resolutions, and perform root cause analysis on business processes to identity and champion future preventative measures.
Partner with Data Owners to enhance and retrofit new and existing business workflows to ensure data compliance, improve data quality, and maintain alignment with the Data Governance Program.
Establish a comprehensive data catalog, documenting data sources, definitions, lineage, and usage to improve data discoverability and understanding for key business unit data within the corporate catalog.
Champion and conduct training on data governance best practices and awareness to accelerate our shift toward a data-driven culture.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
Prior experience developing and maintaining corporate data catalogs (e.g., Purview).
Prior experience with SAP supply chain data and/or experience within aerospace is preferred but not required.
Advance working knowledge of Data Governance, Data Quality, and Data Management principles and concepts.
Advance knowledge of building and maintaining PowerBI dashboards.
Subject matter knowledge of supply chain data and familiarity with SAP data.
Strong working SQL knowledge and familiarity with relational databases, data warehouses, data lake house, data platforms, and data as a product concepts.
Prior experience supporting a multi-company/multi-plant environment.
Proven track record of driving continuous personal improvement by learning and adapting quickly to the latest technologies and trends.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to provide meaningful, regular status communications to various levels of leadership.
Experience with supporting and working with global cross-functional virtual teams in a dynamic fast paced environment.
Experience with performing root cause analysis on internal and external data to answer specific business questions, resolve issues, & identify improvement opportunities.
