Advertised Salary: Salary commensurate with qualifications pursuant to the FSU and FNTFO/AFT Agreement FLSA: Exempt Temporary/Continuing: Temporary Part-Time/Full-Time: Part-Time Union Group: Ferris Nontenure-Track Faculty Organization (FNTFO) (AFT) Term of Position: As Needed At Will/Just Cause: Just Cause Summary of Position: Join our team in the College of Business at Ferris State University to shape future graphic designers, user experience/user interface (ux/ui) designers, and brand identity designers. Candidates will demonstrate: expertise in visual design, design principles, typography, and creative concept development; familiarity with design research methods and user-centered design principles; evidence of contemporary industry practice within the last 5 years; and effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students from diverse backgrounds. Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in design, visual communication, interaction design, or a related field and 5 years of recent design industry experience within the last 10 years, or a master’s degree in design or a related field, and 2 years of recent design industry experience within the last 5 years. Required Work Experience: Evidence of contemporary industry practice within the last 5 years, Teaching experience at the college level or professional training/mentoring experience, ideally with online teaching platforms and delivery methods. Required Licenses and Certifications: Physical Demands: Office Environment Moving Sitting Standing Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Master's degree (MA, MFA, MS, MDes, DMBA, MBA) in design or a closely related field is preferred, along with teaching experience at the college level or professional training/mentoring experience with online teaching platforms and delivery methods. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Incorporate design foundations, industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies into course content; Deliver engaging hands-on learning experiences that foster creativity, critical thinking, and technical proficiency; Enhance learning outcomes through regular assessment and collaboration with program faculty; Foster an inclusive and collaborative learning environment.
