Who We Want
We are seeking a Process Engineer to work in our Flex Air Division at Miller Industries in Fenton, MI. This role is responsible for evaluating, developing, and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and eliminate waste. To champion the continuous improvement of new and existing manufacturing methodologies, investigate value engineering opportunities and identify waste in the process streams.
What You Will Be Doing
- Analyze and optimize production workflows to improve quality, reduce costs, and eliminate waste.
- Use CAD software to develop or revise process layouts, equipment placement, and part designs.
- Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of products.
- Identify and implement process improvements, lean initiatives, and cost-saving opportunities across the manufacturing line.
- Conduct time studies, root cause analysis, and data-driven decision-making to support continuous improvement.
- Research and recommend new technologies, tools, or materials through trade shows, supplier discussions, and web-based resources.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process maps, and standard operating procedures.
- Support capital project initiatives including justification, planning, and implementation.
- Troubleshoot production issues related to process, equipment, or material and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in all engineering activities.
What Requirements Are Needed
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field).
- 3+ years of experience in a process engineering role, preferably in HVAC or similar manufacturing.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of structural steel fabrication, sheet metal processes, paint applications, and basic electrical systems.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities across multiple departments.
