Student Employment Services Specialist

The Student Employment Services Specialist plays a pivotal role in fostering on campus employment programs for students. This position is responsible for providing structure to the compliance function for the Federal Work Study program. The Student Employment Services Specialist will guide on campus supervisors in providing valuable employment experiences to student employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Develop and implement a strategic plan for student employment services aligned with the college's overall goals.
• Manager the on-campus student employment program by assisting GRCC supervisors and student applicants with their employment needs.
• Review student employee payroll/personnel set-ups and communication with HR Payroll on any changes and updates.
• Develop, implement, and communicate personnel policies and procedures regarding on-campus student employment.
• Responsible for updating and reviewing student employee and supervisor handbook.
• Coordinate and facilitate Supervisor and Student Employee training sessions.
• Foster a positive and collaborative team environment that encourages professional growth and development.
• Resolve student employee complaints and disciplinary issues as they arise, collaborating with Student Life and Conduct.
• Develop, execute and communicate procedures regarding on campus student employment, including supervisor and student employee handbooks.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
• Utilize data and analytics to assess the effectiveness of student employment programs and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Financial Aid to ensure proper compliance with the Federal Work Study program and maximize use of award dollars.
• Work collaboratively with the Executive Director of Human Resources on departmental activities, strategic goals and problem solving.
• Collaborate with academic departments to integrate on campus employment opportunities for students that may align with their educational goals.
• Collaborate and participate with other departments and strategic goal leads on projects as requested to move forward the GRCC strategic plan.
• Manage the budget for Student Employment Services, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource optimization.
Other Job Functions:
• Persons in this role are identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSA's will be trained and responsible for reporting Clery Reportable Crimes to Campus Police as required by the Clery Act.
• Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position.
• Other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education Credentials
• Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Human Resources or other closely related field, required.
Work Experience
• Minimum of two years of experience or related areas of higher education.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and networking skills.

• The position requires long periods of sitting, reading and writing, listening and computer work.
