Responsible for arriving, scheduling and closing appointments and supporting clinic operations. Provide and promote exceptional customer service for referring physicians, patients and their families served at the Kellogg Eye Center
- Provide check in and check out services to patients
- Schedule new and return visits determining appropriate sub- specialty within a clinic based on symptoms described and urgency of the appointment request
- Schedule patients for consultations in other clinic diagnostic studies and ambulatory surgery, determining the sequence and coordinating times
- Instruct patients on preparations needed for appointments
- Maintain and update appointment schedules based on change in availability of medical and other professional staff
- Complete financial documents including type of visit, reason for service, charge for service and diagnostic code
- Collect cash and credit card payments from patients using established guidelines to determine patient pay portion, insurance portion or professional courtesy
- Provide information to patients regarding billing procedures
- Determine the necessity within established guidelines for immediate attention conditions of an emergent nature
- Reconcile clinic cash collections daily and making deposit null Accept records and perform document imaging
- Assist in scheduling patients for outpatient surgery
- Manage referral and pre-service work queues
- Other duties as necessary and directed by manager
- High school graduate or equivalent education
- Excellent attendance record
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- A professional and positive image when interacting with patients, faculty and staff, and have excellent grammar and communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills
- Able to work independently and as an integral part of a team
- Able to share work processes and support the training of new staff
- Associate or bachelors Degree
- Experience or knowledge in the field of ophthalmology
- Previous experience with MiChart (Epic) or other electronic medical record (EMR)
- Experience working within a large, complex health care setting null Proficient in programs and applications for reporting of metric data null Familiarity with University policies and KEC guiding principles that promote Caring, Teamwork, Integrity and Innovation
