IT Application Support Specialist
Job description
The Application Support Specialist is accountable for supporting a variety of solutions across the Manufacturing operation. This includes Product Tracking, Time & Attendance, Fiber Procurement, Transportation Management, Safety, etc.
The Specialist will utilize requirements gathering, design, analysis and programming skills to solve business problems. This position will function in a self-directed and empowered team setting, with the opportunity to lead, mentor and coach others.
Activities will include application architecture, system integration, system configuration, application development, and business process analysis. Key customers will include Mill Operations, Planning Scheduling & Delivery, Finance, Environmental Health & Safety, and Fiber Supply.
Key Accountabilities:
Business Partnership
Establish and maintain stakeholder partnerships to understand business goals, issues and provide solution opportunities.
Provide subject matter expertise in the understanding of business process and use of the systems and data.
Business Analysis
Analyze complex business requirements, translating them into detailed requirements which can be understood by the business and delivered by technical resources (both commercial and internal)
Work with cross-functional resources to develop functional design documents.
Manage the Solution Development Lifecycle.
Manage the application lifecycle of IT solutions and processes with a focus on simplicity, reliability, performance and commonality.
Define technical options and develop / recommend proposed solutions.
Evaluate new versions of software and provide cost-benefit analysis and migration plan for upgrades.
Develop and deploy solutions to our customers according to development standards set for Billerud
Talent Development
Coach and Mentor less experienced team members.
Solution Support
Support IT solution availability, reliability, and performance in a 24x7x365 environment.
Compliance
Provide subject matter expertise as it relates to application security, access requests, SOX compliance, and configuration controls.Qualifications
Required Experience and Education:
Minimum Required Experience and Education:
AS/BS/BA in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of Information Technology Application Support or related IT experience required.
Travel: Occasional travel to mill sites and or North American corporate headquarters. (<10%)Personal qualities
Minimum Required Skills:
Highly motivated with the ability to work independently and an eagerness to learn new applications and technologies.
Solid teamwork, organizational, and communication (both oral and written) skills.
Strong customer focus and ability to understand business processes and information needs.
Versatile problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to translate business requirements into attainable IT solutions.
Ability to manage multiple time sensitive, complex projects and issues simultaneously.
Technical understanding of software development tools, testing methodologies, application lifecycle, and performance
Ability to interact with diverse groups of people from across the company to build constructive networks/relationships and develop solutions to business needs.
Strong Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Server, Microsoft Azure Cloud and Microsoft Office skillsContact
Preferred Skills:
5+ years of application support and development experience with OptiVision or other Product Tracking solution, NLINK or other Middleware, or Time & Attendance systems.
SQL and database concepts, Visual Studio, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
Windows Server and Desktop experience preferred but not required.Application information
