As Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Professional, you will ensure a safe and compliant workplace by assisting EHS systems, identifying and mitigating workplace safety risks, minimizing environmental impact and manage risks.
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Professional will be responsible for the implementation of various environmental, employee health and safety regulations and legislation (law, ISO 14000, etc.). The goal is to have all necessary policies in place and keep a high standard in all fields of environmental protection and company health. This role involves supporting multiple facilities located in Ann Arbor, MI and Fremont ,CA for various work-centers (Manufacturing, GLP Services, R&D, etc.), including biosafety-level work (BSL-1, -2, and -2+).
What you will accomplish together with us:
Develop and implement policies and practices to identify / mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments
Participate or lead site audits, which may include biosafety, ISO9001, and more
Contribute to the development of the overall company health strategy
Investigate accidents, environmental incidents and sources of risk for environmental problems and liaise with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents / risks and prevent their recurrence
Provide advice and training on safety protocols and environmental protection and conduct audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to environmental and employee health and safety
Assist in the annual review of safety program policies and plans (i.e., Biosafety Manual, Exposure Control Plan, Chemical Hygiene Plan, etc.)
Implement policies and practices to identify / mitigate hazardous conditions with negative impact on the environment
Organize activities and programs in connection with the company health program; manage environmental permits and EHS records
Keep close relationships with all internal stakeholders involved in company health programs and environmental performance and engage with external stakeholders
Control and track success of health activities and environmental engagement
What will convince us:
High School Diploma required with 5+ years of EHS work experience. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a technical field (chemistry, biology, environmental, safety, etc.) with training in core Environmental, Health and Safety disciplines is preferred.
2+ years of EHS experience to include regulatory compliance and project management experience.
2+ years of audit experience
Excellent problem-solving skills
OSHA 30-hour course or equivalent preferred
Experience working at an ISO 9001 facility, Process Safety Management, OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Preferred
CSP (Certified Safety Professional) is a plus
Physical demand lifting 30 to 50 pounds

Location Ann Arbor, MI. 100% office attendance
Approximately 40% travel between Ann Arbor, MI and Fremont, CA
This position may require working flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.
