Check out this new opportunity! Mechanical Engineer - Stowage & Mounting Sterling Heights, MI Contract Position Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance. Responsibilities: * Design and release mechanical components and subsystems for military ground vehicles, focusing on shock/vibration isolation, stowage integration, and mounting solutions. * Develop and integrate components to meet vehicle performance requirements, including human factors, safety, environmental, ballistic, and mine blast criteria. * Conduct design analysis of mechanical systems, including tolerance stack-ups and material selection, with a focus on welding and fabrication for brackets and mounting structures. * Support vehicle prototype and production build efforts through fit checks, technical troubleshooting, failure analysis, and corrective actions. * Generate engineering change documentation, material requests, shop work requests, and technical reports. * Present design concepts and project status updates to functional and program leadership. * Oversee CAD modeling and drawing development; collaborate with internal design teams using NX and Creo tools. * Participate in integration reviews and ensure timely delivery of parts and components. * Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required. * 5-7 years of relevant experience in mechanical design or engineering, preferably in military or defense applications. * Eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance may be required (U.S. Citizenship needed). * Experience in component and system-level design and integration. * Hands-on experience supporting prototype and/or production builds. * Proficiency with NX and Creo CAD software; familiarity with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup is a plus. * Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes. * Ability to climb on/off and work around military vehicles. * Willingness to travel up to 10% to other facilities or military installations. * Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings, and overtime as needed.
