Salary Range:$20.00 To $25.00 Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
- A Material Handler Operator handles, moves and stores various non-hazardous and hazardous materials within Ventower's property. Main duties include loading and unloading different transport items, recording inventory statuses, and making sure deliveries properly match purchase orders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Operate large forklifts to safely unload and move steel plates and similar materials of 20,000 - 40,000 lbs.
- Operate motor vehicles -- including small forklifts and trucks -- to retrieve miscellaneous consumable items.
- Organize mixed materials by type.
- Perform regular vehicle maintenance and inspections in accordance with established rules and regulations.
- Verify inventory received by type and quantity, reporting discrepancies or problems to supervisor.
- Prepare shipping documents and related reports.
- Input inventory information, vehicle maintenance requirements and other information into computer system
- Loading and unloading hazardous waste materials including paint waste
- Identification, and ensuring the correct documentation on hazardous waste manifests.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.
- Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) forklift certification is an advantage.
- Excellent physical fitness with the ability to lift up to a maximum of 100 pounds.
- Availability to work overtime including weekends, public holidays, and evenings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years' experience operating heavy forklifts.
- Understanding of the balance and leverage concepts needed to safely load and unload heavy materials.
- Able to use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment.
- Able to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work inside and outside in cold, damp, drafty and hot areas.
- Able to perform work on hard surfaces, in work areas that require the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Able to exert moderate physical effort used in operating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping the forklift and raising, lowering, and tilting the loads being moved.
- You must provide your own steel-toed shoes.
- Able to complete training for MI state forklift certification.
- Able to take and pass background check and drug test as conditions for employment.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
