Position: Assistant Mortgage Lending Manager I
Employment Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Real Estate Lending Leader
Position Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union in delivering on its mission, vision, and brand promise. Essential Duties
- Create a positive and empowering environment for team members to foster professional development and goal achievement.
- Recommend procedures and processes that contribute to continuous improvement within real estate lending.
- Ensure loan procedures comply with lending regulations and update as necessary.
- Serve as the acting department leader when the Real Estate Lending Leader is out of the office.
- Review Quarterly & Annual HMDA data for accuracy and timely submission.
- Successfully obtain Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation through CUNA within the first 12 months.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Align individual team performance goals with the credit union’s strategic plan.
- Manage department staff; allocate resources to meet operational needs, including setting schedules, approving leave, and improving processes.
- Assist in servicing, underwriting, processing, funding, and closing loans as needed.
- Lead and coach employees to meet and exceed performance expectations, documenting any performance issues and recommending training or corrective actions.
- Conduct performance summaries, monthly development progress reviews, and training for staff.
- Ensure all team members are trained and cross-trained in related positions.
- Analyze workflow and staffing requirements, ensuring proper coverage and service for members.
- Foster a team-oriented environment within the real estate team to promote deeper relationships with members and achieve branch goals.
- Apply project management principles and participate in credit union projects.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for expanded member relationships, recommending appropriate credit union solutions.
- Ensure the credit union’s professional reputation is upheld in all real estate lending transactions.
- Assist the Real Estate Lending Leader in reviewing audits and providing resolutions for compliance issues.
- Network within and outside the industry to foster personal, professional, and credit union growth.
- Conduct periodic reviews of lending procedures and update as needed for enhanced member experience.
- Attend and engage in educational opportunities and industry meetings, preparing reports and actionable insights from training.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support department and credit union goals.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to move or transport up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to remain stationary for 2-4 hours at a time.
Work Environment
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Routinely clean and disinfect teller stations, desks, phones, and electronic equipment.
- Protect confidentiality by securing sensitive materials when not in use.
Education and Experience
- Three to five years of mortgage experience, with a focus on leadership.
- A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized certification or licensing program.
- Working knowledge of mortgage lending regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
