Job Description

Bricklayers Local 2 seeks Journeyman Tile Setters.

1-5 years experience

Wage: $22.92 - $32.19 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

Surface preparation:

Cleaning, leveling, and smoothing surfaces to ensure proper tile adhesion.
Tile cutting:

Accurately cutting tiles to fit around corners, obstacles, and complex layouts using power and hand tools like wet saws and tile cutters.
Mortar application:

Mixing and applying mortar or adhesive evenly onto the prepared surface using a trowel.
Tile placement:

Carefully positioning and aligning tiles according to the design, using levels, squares, and straightedges to maintain straight lines.
Grouting:

Applying grout between tiles, filling gaps, and wiping away excess grout to achieve a clean finish.
Quality control:

Inspecting tile installation for levelness, alignment, and overall appearance.
Reading blueprints:

Interpreting construction plans to determine tile layout and patterns.
Maintaining safety protocols:

Adhering to all safety regulations on the job site, including proper use of personal protective equipment.

Skills Required:

Hand-eye coordination: Precisely placing and aligning tiles.
Physical strength and stamina: Ability to kneel, bend, and lift heavy materials for extended periods.
Attention to detail: Ensuring a clean and consistent finish.
Mathematical skills: Accurately measuring and calculating tile placement.
Problem-solving abilities: Adapting to unexpected challenges on the job site.
