Bricklayers Local 2 seeks Journeyman Tile Setters.

• Surface preparation:

  Cleaning, leveling, and smoothing surfaces to ensure proper tile adhesion. 

   
• Tile cutting:

  Accurately cutting tiles to fit around corners, obstacles, and complex layouts using power and hand tools like wet saws and tile cutters. 

   
• Mortar application:

  Mixing and applying mortar or adhesive evenly onto the prepared surface using a trowel. 

   
• Tile placement:

  Carefully positioning and aligning tiles according to the design, using levels, squares, and straightedges to maintain straight lines. 

   
• Grouting:

  Applying grout between tiles, filling gaps, and wiping away excess grout to achieve a clean finish. 

   
• Quality control:

  Inspecting tile installation for levelness, alignment, and overall appearance. 

   
• Reading blueprints:

  Interpreting construction plans to determine tile layout and patterns. 

   
• Maintaining safety protocols:

  Adhering to all safety regulations on the job site, including proper use of personal protective equipment. 

   

• Hand-eye coordination: Precisely placing and aligning tiles. 
   
• Physical strength and stamina: Ability to kneel, bend, and lift heavy materials for extended periods. 
   
• Attention to detail: Ensuring a clean and consistent finish. 
   
• Mathematical skills: Accurately measuring and calculating tile placement. 
   
• Problem-solving abilities: Adapting to unexpected challenges on the job site.
