The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) has five openings for Mechanic A in Lansing, MI, as part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, AFL-CIO, Local Union 352.

Pay Rate: $42.86 - $48.26 per hour
Position Summary:
Installs and repairs water service and mains, including such tasks as making taps, setting meters, locating lines, and completing field records.
Essential Functions:
- Performs all tasks required to install water services such as: making large and small taps, perform hydro- stops, operating bore machine, installing copper tubing, ...
- Performs all tasks required to repair water services including copper flaring, installing sweat fittings, requiring the use of oxyacetylene torch.
- Completes all necessary field records such as service orders, shop orders, field cards and fills in for Crew Leader on as-needed basis.
- Assists in water main installation and repair to include restoration work.
- Job tasks require operation of various tools such as jackhammer, rock drill, oxyacetylene torch, cutoff saws and more.
- Operates various vehicles such as crew truck, van, and pickup truck.
- Required to follow BWL safety manual and wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Shall attend all training for safety awareness and/or skills improvement as required by supervisor, BWL or governmental agency such as MIOSHA
- Must be available for calls after hours, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned or necessitated by job responsibilities.
