Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, supervise the Central Plant providing leadership, direction and motivation to staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise the Central Plant staff in all areas to include: scheduling repairs and job assignments, ensuring staff have the required tools for the job, and other supervisory duties.
- Manage Central Plant Associates to include: hiring, performance evaluation, discipline, time/attendance tracking and motivation.
- Ensure adherence to safety practices on assigned jobs including safety training, identifying specific safety requirements per the assigned jobs, ensuring all safety documentation is properly completed like lift usage and reviewing of worksites.
- Evaluate requests for repair and modifications of central plant equipment and systems; determine the causes of malfunctions, the extensiveness of repair or modification needed, the procedures and methods of corrective actions, cost feasibility, project timetables, and priority in terms of central plant capabilities and usage.
- Prepare capital and operating budgets for the central plant.
- Coordinate the completion of repair and modification projects with contractors, vendors, and maintenance support services.
- Inspect all projects on a daily basis interacting with associates who are assigned to the project.
- Maintain documentation of all work performed.
- Maintain needed inventory levels and setting of par levels for stock items. Complete data entry in purchasing system requiring ordering of all stock and repair parts and supplies in accordance with the organization`s purchasing policies.
- Maintain the work order database for Central Plant utilizing the computerized work order system and ensuring each work order has been accurately completed upon submission.
- Maintain planning documents regarding uncompleted work so productivity can be maximized with associates.
- Maintain electrical, mechanical and pneumatic equipment and utility systems.
- Ensure equipment and preventative maintenance schedules are being maintained and schedule task lists match what is recommended by manufacturers.
- Assist staff in completion of duties as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:
- Contact with Facilities Managers and other Management as needed per the requirements of the respective job.
- Contact with suppliers, contractors, architects and engineers as needed.
- Contact with patrons as needed when issues result in patron dissatisfaction, or by minimizing the impact repairs may have on the guest experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Five years of experience in a Central Plant, mechanical equipment environment, or licensed HVAC and one year of management experience or 10 years of experience in a Central Plant environment.
- Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.
- Incumbents at or above the income threshold as determined by the National Indian Gaming Commission will be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license while in this position as part of their job responsibilities. Individuals who do not have the ability to obtain or maintain a gaming license will not be able to continue.
License, Certification, or Special Requirements:
- Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver`s License, with the proper designation required for the vehicle utilized to perform the job duties, and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier. A Tribal Driver`s License will also be required if a Motor Pool Vehicle is used in the course and scope of the required job duties.
- Native American preference shall apply to all positions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal laws, regulations and requirements.
- Knowledge of the current standards and safety codes for heating and cooling systems.
- Knowledge of current OSHA rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of duct venting, heating and cooling systems, CFR coolants and gases.
- Knowledge of utility and electrical systems and their components.
- Knowledge of general skills for plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC repairs and maintenance.
- Knowledge of personal computers, preventative maintenance programs and work order systems.
- Skill in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing utility systems.
- Skill in operating equipment and tools.
- Skill in basic math and using measuring instruments.
- Skill in providing superior guest service to external and internal guests.
- Skill in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing operational and financial reports.
- Skill in supervising, training, and evaluating assigned staff.
- Ability to coordinate assignments and tasks with other departments, programs or construction trade.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, schematics, diagrams and or sketches.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.
- Ability to operate computerized equipment and microprocessor control systems.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer and repair equipment.
- Required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and reach with arms and hands.
- Requires long hours of standing, stooping, bending, and climbing.
- Occasionally sit, balance, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to dirt and dust from project work areas; wet and damp areas; cramped and close work areas; and working around operating equipment with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic hazards requiring usage of safe work practices.
- Work with chemicals for water treatment and extreme temperatures in boiler rooms and rooftop work areas.
- Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions including extreme hot/cold and to lift, carry, push, or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials
- Exposure to hazardous stains, lacquers and other chemicals that require respiratory protection.
- Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
- Evening, overnight, holiday and/or weekend work may be required.
- Travel may be required.
- Frequent walking and standing in a smoking environment and contact with the general public. Constant visual stimulation via neon lights on slot machines, repeatedly changing machine video screens, static or flashing signs throughout the casino and constant machine and crowd noise.
