Demonstrate SoundOff Signal's Core Values in daily interactions with internal and external customers.
Provide the Environmental, Health and Safety support for the SoundOff Signal, Hudsonville Operations (2 plants)
Ensure accurate reporting of LTI, recordable incidents, OSHA logs etc.
Initiate and track compliance to GHS/ISO9001 training and certifications
Develop specific EHS programs that target the prevention of EHS impacts in the workplace and address high risk activities.
Provide project management support for the implementation of these programs across all the various departments within the business
Develop, implement, and make continual process improvements to the local EHS Management system by updating EHS policies and procedures to ensure they are practical, current and meet the relevant regulation
Provide consultation and guidance in developing appropriate environmental, health and safety strategies and initiatives to drive injury/illness prevention and continuously improve environmental stewardship
Administer/coordinate/perform environmental, health and safety audits and associated evaluations to ensure compliance with regulations, good management practices, corporate strategy and initiatives, and corporate policies/procedures
Advise and recommend control measures to reduce the effects of workplace and environmental stresses to acceptable levels, and assure compliance with applicable environmental, health and safety regulations, appropriate codes and company procedures
Complete analyses to determine injury/illness trends.
Establish pertinent strategies and initiatives to control/eliminate safety and health hazards and eliminate injuries/illnesses
Capture specific EHS compliance and performance data and develop effective strategies to communicate statistics to the various stakeholders within the business
Assess health and safety information dissemination and training needs. Provide consultation, education and training for management and employees to understand the health and safety related risks and their role in reducing these risks for the protection of employee health and safety
Provide technical guidance for all Environmental, Health and Safety issues for the site. Specific areas of responsibility are safety, industrial hygiene, environmental permitting, budgets, and safety program management.
Ensure statutory compliance with all safety, health and environmental legal requirements such as OSHA, EPA, DOT, and the respective state agencies
Represent the company in federal, state, or local regulatory agency matters concerning environmental, health and safety compliance.
Review and interpret new and proposed federal, state, and local regulations for potential impact on manufacturing operations. Advise management of the regulatory requirements that could affect compliance and liability
Ensure all safety incidents and suggestions are addressed and communicated to appropriate personnel.
Management of safety ticket system
Maintain and audit Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) electronic database
Conduct safety trainings during new hire orientation
Serve as main contact for outside safety vendors
Participate in monthly safety meetings to capture and disseminate safety meeting minutes
Management of the plant safety team and first responder teams. This includes a comprehensive review of all open safety findings in the plant, along with owner, corrective action, and due date. Weekly report to MGMT Team for Wednesday update
Management of the monthly Safety meeting
Management of all annual and ongoing training in the plant including, but not limited to; LOTO, Hazcomm, Hilo, safe lifting, blood borne pathogen, emergency response, fire prevention and protection, PPE, first responders, electrical, incident investigation, crane, hazmat, etc.
Able to perform job consistently without excessive absenteeism or tardiness
Other duties as assigned.
BS degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or other related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be required.
5-7 years of experience in environmental, health and safety management administration, practices, principles and procedure.
Communication - displays developed interpersonal skills: leadership, team orientation, ability to communicate at all levels
Project Management - able to effectively manage resources to complete multiple projects simultaneously
Working knowledge of best practices and Federal, State and local environmental, health and safety regulations.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, communications, and teamwork skills
Strong PC skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, EHS database software
Results Oriented - Must be detail oriented and have strong drive and a sense of urgency to resolve issues
Flexibility and Adaptability - make effective decisions and maintain effectiveness under changing circumstances and priorities
Working knowledge of best practices and federal, state and local health and safety regulations
On track to seek or be eligible to seek professional certification in Industrial Hygiene (CIH), Safety (CSP), Hazardous Materials (CHMM) a plus
Knowledge of EMS, printing, packaging, warehousing processes, and related manufacturing requirements a plus
Mostly office environment, occasional light manufacturing environment
