Summary of Position: | The College of Engineering Technology enrolls 1,600 students in four schools, including the School of Automotive and Heavy Equipment; the School of Built Environment; the School of Design and Manufacturing; and the School of Engineering and Computing Technology (for the programs in each school, see the College website http://www.ferris.edu/cet). The College’s mission is to prepare graduates who have met its high academic standards for the current and future professional, industrial and business needs of the state, the nation and the world.
The successful candidate for the position of Dean of the College of Engineering Technology will demonstrate strong commitment to student success through leadership experience, talent, articulation of a shared vision, and the ability to build, with the faculty, administration and staff, the future of the College. The anticipated start date of this position is July 2024, however, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed. | |

Required Education: | A terminal degree from an accredited program in an area represented in or closely aligned with the College of Engineering Technology. We will also accept a terminal degree in Management (Engineering Management, DBM, etc.) provided the candidate also has a BS from an accredited program in an area represented in or closely aligned with the College of Engineering Technology. Academic credentials and business/industry experience sufficient to qualify for tenure status in one of the departments/schools within the college. | |
Required Work Experience: | Demonstrated work experience in higher education to include teaching, scholarship, and service. Three years of demonstrated successful experience in academic administration, including evidence of ability to recruit, lead, serve, and develop a diverse faculty, staff, and student body. Comprehensive administrative skills, including oral and written communication, supervision, and budget management while maintaining confidentiality. Demonstrated commitment to integrity, transparency, organization, and leadership. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Demonstrated experience with a focus on student success, recruitment, retention, and graduation. Demonstrated experience or ability to strengthen enrollment especially with underserved populations. Evidence of a strong commitment to shared governance based on respect for faculty and staff. Evidence of an ability to guide academic, strategic and diversity planning and reporting. Evidence of an ability to advocate for resources within and beyond the University. | |

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: | Five or more years of documented full-time or equivalent industrial employment in a technical field related to a CET discipline. Three or more years of demonstrated full-time or equivalent experience in higher education as a department chair/head or higher. Prior experience with alumni, donor, and community partnerships and engagement. Demonstrated understanding of collective bargaining agreements. Prior experience with accreditation and assessment of academic programs. | |
