Description
We are hiring a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to support our early engagement new product launch activities focused on Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and overall manufacturing process design. This role requires the capacity and willingness to learn, understand and transfer knowledge to PD&L teams: specific details regarding diverse manufacturing processes, capabilities and core competencies at all Steelcase North America plants and our key suppliers
What You Will Be Doing:
Provide timely costing support for parts/components/assemblies/parcels for all internally produced product, sometimes with very little Design/Product Engineering input (i.e. "sketch costing"). Support Supply Chain with "should cost" analysis on new purchased components
Reference and leverage existing Steelcase product/part designs through research: review and understand product specification guides and options logic, SAP BOM/Routings, Windchill part structure and drawings, 3D CAD models, tooling/equipment specifications and standard work documents
Possess and leverage your strong business acumen; able to provide direction and guidance to influence product design direction and/or value stream. Must be able to provide on-the-spot judgement and direction, as well as able to develop and share an effective business case for an Executive audience based upon technical analysis, financials, risk, and ease of implementation.
Identify and connect with internal subject matter experts, serving as their direct link to PD&L teams and ensuring only the most effective use of their time
Effective negotiator - as the go-between of Product Design, Marketing, Engineering, Project Management, Plant Operations, Suppliers, etc. must be able to effectively identify and guide the team towards an optimized solution.
Be flexible to adapt work schedule and work location to best support multiple PD&L teams concurrently, with team members spread across the globe

Exposure to manufacturing plant floor operations
