The Office for Health Equity and Inclusion (OHEI) develops mechanisms for inclusion, diversity and cultural sensitivity among faculty, staff, and learners at Michigan Medicine. We strive to create an impact on these stakeholders that will reverberate in Michigan Medicine?s patient care and community outreach initiatives. The team is expanding to focus on research, dissemination of information, and policy guidance around the issues of diversity, inclusion, health, and equity. We also serve current and prospective health sciences students of all ages, to strengthen the pathway for diverse students to access this competitive and growing field.
The Training & Facilitation team serves as the primary support for all workforce diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) educative efforts across the academic medical center. The team works closely with multiple Michigan Medicine (MM) units/departments, offices, Resource Groups (RGs), and local leaders of DEI initiatives (DEI Leads) to implement the university president?s DEI strategic plan.
The Training Program Manager will contribute to the development, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of a wide range of programs aimed at expanding existing strategic DEI initiatives and planning. These programs will target all MM faculty, staff, and learners, to promote cultural sensitivity and the development of intercultural competences. The Training Program Manager will work with leadership to establish the strategy for the education, empowerment, and training of the three unique audiences of MM while using a data-informed approach to content creation and facilitation. This specifically includes overseeing the unconscious bias in hiring and selection program, training curriculum development, and the successful development of an asynchronous curated DEI learning path. This role involves collaborating with multiple external and internal stakeholders to design and deliver effective training initiatives aligned with organizational goals, monitoring the impact and effectiveness of training programs, and making recommendations for improvement.
Creating opportunities for collaborative work and community building is essential to the success of someone in this role. The Training Program Manager will also provide consultative support to Michigan Medicine units working to improve their culture and climate. Guide the establishment, maintenance, expansion and execution of comprehensive DEI strategic training programs tailored to meet the needs of Michigan Medicine's faculty, staff, and learners. Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure that curricula reflect organizational objectives and address gaps in cultural competence and inclusion.
Implement assessment frameworks to measure the effectiveness of DEI initiatives and programs, adapting content and approaches based on participant feedback and evaluations. Utilize data to demonstrate training impact and inform continuous improvement.
Cultivate and sustain strategic partnerships with internal departments and external academic and community organizations to amplify the reach and effectiveness to ensure cohesion between DEI efforts and overarching institutional goals. Create and support integrated programmatic efforts.
Experience with data-informed and data-driven strategizing in a large, complex policy driven organization with the ability to form strategic recommendations.

Oversee the design and delivery of a strategic DEI workforce diversity initiative with a particular focus on equitable hiring, recruitment, and selection processes.
- Bachelor's degree in higher education, public health, or a related field, with a preference for a Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in program facilitation and training and an ability to effectively convey DEI content to various audiences.
- Extensive experience in developing educational programs, particularly in a medical or healthcare education setting, with a proven track record of achieving learning objectives.
- Experience overseeing initiatives related to workforce diversity, equitable hiring, recruitment, and selection processes.
