The Digital Water Lab at the University of Michigan (http://digitalwaterlab.org) seeks a highly motivated postdoc to advance knowledge in smart and autonomous water systems. Candidates will lead fundamental discoveries across the intersection of water, data, and autonomy.in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Michigan (USA), under the supervision of Professor Branko Kerkez.
Duties will predominantly involve working across a broad research portfolio, spanning real-time control, sensor networks, AI, related topics along with a team of researchers and teachers. Existing collaborations with community partners and utilities across the US will provide the opportunity to translate research ideas directly into practice.
? PhD in engineering, mathematics, science, engineering, or related fields.
? Knowledge of control theory, statistical and probabilistic methods, optimization, machine learning, robotics, or related fields.
? Passion for water, the environment, and open source.
? Strong desire to learn new methods, including sensing, programming languages, and related tools.
Interest in working with communities and stakeholders.
The appointment is for 12 months with a possibility of an extension, contingent on performance and fund availability. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2024; an earlier start date is possible.
