Job Summary
Interns will work closely with finance leadership and staff for direction on projects, tasks and responsibilities. Work will involve hands on work on business plans, financial analysis, budgets, projections, and various other areas. Interns will be involved in trending and analysis of reimbursement, costs related to supplies, pharmaceuticals and other areas of financial optimization. Interns will meet and work with various clinical, operational, and other leaders at various levels of the organization, including senior leadership. Training will include modules provided by the HFMA which will provide significant training in the healthcare business and financial environment. Additionally staff and leadership will spend time exposing interns to topics and projects. The internship will provide broad exposure to the healthcare system, including physician practices, inpatient services, outpatient operations, surgery, nursing, and various other departments.
Essential Functions
Maintains accountability for completing support tasks as directed.
Maintains clear and appropriate documentation of actions taken.
May analyzes department processes and other Spectrum Health systems encountered and makes recommendations improvements, as appropriate. Participates in quality monitoring activities/process improvement activities.
Communicates, collaborates, and acts as a team player with others in order to ensure continuity and coordination of services.
Qualifications
Required High School Diploma or equivalent Currently enrolled in a university pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in area of accountability. May also be a recent graduate from an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program.
