The Director, Advanced Engineering Power and Sensor Products leads, plans, and directs all aspects of engineering, design, development and launch for Methode's Power and Sensor products for Tesla, General Motors, Ford, the J-OEM's and Battery Manufactures. He or She is responsible for all technical aspects to proliferate & grow existing products and commercialize new products including product strategies, proof-of-concepts, technical design reviews, quote bill of materials and customer technical relationships. This role helps develop the manufacturing requirements and strategies to grow both revenue and profit and ensure flawless product launches. The ideal candidate possesses a deep background in power and sensor products for the automotive market with solid business and financial acumen.
Position Responsibilities:
All aspects of product engineering and launch including pre-RFQ advanced development, RFQ bill of material, customer technical design reviews and design/development from award to end of product life
Lead cross-discipline technical team to identify next generation products and new products categories which capitalize on the broad capabilities of Methode's Power and Sensor product portfolio
Create and develop product and technology roadmaps which maximize product integration and profitability along with speed to market/commercialization
Foster deep technical customer and supplier relationships in Engineering, R&D and Product Planning
Define Methode's key differentiators for all products
Work in closely with the Director of Sales and Business Development Managers to maximize new business bookings
Develop best-in-class technical design review (TDR's) events
Capture and protect intellectual property
Provide leadership and direction for each awarded program to meet all customer and internal timing milestones in the product development process including the quality of design and product margin improvement
Instill product development engineering discipline including Methode's PDPLS global development process, reuse of design standards/guidelines (KBD), lessons learned and customer requirements agreement
Enhance product profitability through customer and internal engineering changes as well as VA/VA activities including the enforcement of a disciplined change control process
In conjunction with Operations and Finance, develop manufacturing requirements and strategies to grow both revenue and enhance profit. This includes the business case and payback for manufacturing and industrialization CAPEX projects
Develop a coherent recruiting, staffing, and staff development strategy that supports the business plan and strategic direction
Create an environment supportive of positive employee engagement

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Deep product knowledge of busbars, battery disconnect units and interconnects
Requires 5+ years of managerial experience
Requires 10 + years of engineering experience in Power and/or Sensor Products
Knowledge of metal stamping, plastic injection modeling, power electronics, plating, powder coating, tooling, fabrication, and manufacturing disciplines
Strong communication and leadership skills
Proven ability to overcome obstacles and get results
Experience driving and leading program and product execution
Passion for product development and business development
Experience developing ground up designs and competitive cost structures for customer RFQ's
High level of interpersonal skills with ability to interface with OEM and supplier technical experts
Business acumen, to gauge not just what can be done but to know what can be profitable and commercialized quickly
Domestic and international travel up to 40% of time
