TITLE OF POSITION: Course Quality Assurance Coordinator
STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt
LOCATION: Primary location is onsite at the W.A. Lettinga Campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with some remote work possible.
REPORTS TO: Academic Systems
The Course Quality Assurance Coordinator (CQAC) supports academic departments in the effective delivery and presentation of high-quality courses in the Learning Management System (LMS). The CQAC uses standards and best practices defined and established by the CQAC in partnership with personnel in Academic Systems and Instructional Design. This is accomplished through participation in course observation and review, syllabus collection and alignment with standards, mentoring of faculty, and identification of areas for continuous improvement in course delivery. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Development and maintenance of a course quality checklist in partnership with internal leads for assessment, academic systems, and instructional design. Relevant external benchmarking may also inform the checklist.
• Perform quality assurance audits of course shells in the learning management system and share audit results with academic leadership in a schedule to be determined yearly based on need.
• Develop, share, and communicate with faculty best practices and guidelines for course quality.
• Ensure course syllabi reflect requirements as designed by academic departments within individual course-sections.
• Ensure required assessments and measurement rubrics are present in syllabi and course shells.
• Collect electronic syllabi from Learning Management System course shells and provide a means for college administrative leadership to browse and review by CRN or course-code.
• Encourage continuous improvement of online instruction through updates and communication surrounding the Online Instructional Responsibilities document published to the Intranet.
• Performs online course readiness checks and mid-session observations in accordance with the audit schedule.
• Periodically review and publish answers to faculty questions related to course delivery expectations.
• Contributes to continuous improvement of online delivery across the curriculum by sharing ideas, techniques, processes, and best practices gathered through continuous personal learning in the field.
• Builds collaborative working relationships to ensure delivery of high quality online education.
• Remains current and up to date in online instructional and learning technology best practices.
• Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.
• Provides GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.
• Demonstrate and promote the University's cultural values.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Minimum of two years online teaching experience required.
• Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
• Previously demonstrated mentoring/coaching experience preferred.
• Ability to plan and organize your own work with a high attention to detail.
• Demonstrates ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive work environment, spirit of cooperation, and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution.
• Demonstrates ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized systems.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both written and oral which transcend diverse audiences.
• Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively and relate well to students, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
• Demonstrates motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the University.
• Business office/Professional environment; prolonged sitting and standing; use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain); ability to lift classroom materials, etc. up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to work an irregular schedule, evenings, or Saturday as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
