This full time position, provides specialization of direct services aimed at fostering social, emotional and behavioral health with children ages 0-8 in tribal programs. Acts as a resource, consultant and liaison for tribal Early Head Start, Head Start, Child Care, school and clinic based staff and families with the goal of integrating effective strategies into practice. Assist staff, families and community in applying best practice to address the needs of children with risk factors such as trauma, drug-exposed families and/or disabilities. Must be comfortable working one on one and in groups with young children, families and service providers.
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred in any of the following areas: child development, education, public health, early childhood mental health, psychology or social work. Valid MI driver's license with no restrictions if Bachelor's degree 2 years of experience working in early childhood including but not limited to Head Start/Early Head Start/Child Care and Early Elementary. If Associate degree 4 years of experience working in early childhood including but not limited to Head Start/Early Head Start/Child Care and Early Elementary; Knowledge of children and families' social emotional and behavioral needs and Native American culture.
