This position is responsible for providing support for all engineering department activities in accordance with the business objectives stated in the annual business plan. Direct responsibilities include assisting in designing, developing, maintaining and improving current and new product designs as well as providing engineering support and drawings for the production department. This will also entail managing specific projects from start to finish utilizing KTSV-MI's Leading the Build Process. This may also entail performing tasks normally performed by other departments to support KTT's lean/continuous improvement system (GAS - Growth Achievement System). This position will also interface with other engineering resources and the functional areas of sales, production and purchasing/materials.
Key Accountabilities
Assist in developing clear and accurate customer specifications, work orders and the associated project manager checklist.
Create 3D model geometry and associated mechanical and architectural drawings.
Support development of electrical load calculations and power distribution documentation.
Lead development of HVAC capacity and airflow calculations
Assist in improvement of product designs and overall finished product quality.
Assist in customer meetings, conference calls and site visits as required.
Project management, and work with sub-contractors to comply with specifications while controlling/reducing their costs.
Support the implementation of Servant Leadership principles by actively participating and leading by example
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Bachelor of Science Civil Engineering BSCE) or architecture from an accredited institution required
Advanced AutoCAD user (2D), 3-5 years experience required
Proficiency in SolidWorks required
Proficiency in Inventor or Pro/E is a plus
Michigan Professional Engineer (PE) mechanical or civil preferred
2-4 years project (program) management experience in a custom engineering and manufacturing environment required
2-4 years large assembly design and development experience
1 - 3 years of experience in a related field
Experience with AutoCAD Inventor required
Experience with Solidworks preferred
Collaborative approach and the ability to support all functional areas required
1-2 years custom truck, 5th wheel trailer or RV design and development experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of engineering theories, industry practices and manufacturing practices. Knowledge of systems design engineering preferred.
Working knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and referenced standards, and AWS D1.1 and 1.2.
FEA (finite element analysis) experience using SolidWorks Simulation, PTC Creo Simulation or equivalent preferred.
Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects and provide status.
Knowledge of and ability to lead and implement continuous improvement principles and techniques.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in use of common PC software packages (i.e. MS Office).
