This position reports to the Cesar Chavez Learning Center (CCLC) Director and is responsible for collaborating, coordinating, and assisting with the delivery of activities to support college initiatives related to first generation, non-traditional and under-represented students. This position will participate in the organization and planning of activities designed to support initiatives to diversify, improve, and increase global and cultural competence within the campus community.
This position is specifically responsible for leading the following programs: Men About Progress (MAP), Brother to Brother (B2B), Latinos Unidos Con Energia, Respect Y Orgullo (LUCERO). Responsibility for these programs extends to mentorship, planning and coordinating program activities, developing program plans, weekly student support hours, monitoring participant activities, planning program field trips, planning community service activities, and reporting student success metrics.
This position will support the success of students participating in CCLC programming through the provision of co-curricular activities that are aligned with the essential learning outcomes of the college (specifically Personal and Social Responsibility and Intellectual and Practical Skills, including teamwork and problem solving) and designed to support retention, persistence, completion, development of life-long skills, and a sense of belonging.
This position will be required to become knowledgeable about all student support services available to LCC students (including academic advising, tutoring, coaching, counseling, library, accessibility, and career services); providing referrals as needed.
This position will be equipped to provide presentations on CCLC programming and Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) in general. Such presentations may take place during program meetings, student orientation programs and CCLC tours.
This position will be required to help provide a welcoming and customer friendly environment for all employees, students and community members visiting the College and participating in ODI sponsored events for the purpose of creating a safe space for employees, students and community members regardless of race, color, sex, age, religion, national origin, creed, ancestry, height, weight, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, familial status, marital status, military status, veteran’s status, or other status as protected by law, or genetic information that is unrelated to the person’s ability to perform the duties of a particular job or position or participate in educational programs, courses, services or activities offered by the College.
This position will work collaboratively with the CCLC Lead Diversity Project Coordinator, Center for Engaged Inclusion Diversity Project Coordinators and any other Special Services Contractors providing support to ODI to make sure that all ODI events and programs are successful. For this reason, the Diversity Project Coordinator may be required to attend events related to all ODI programs not just programs hosted by CCLC. Lastly, this position will take advantage of available professional development activities related to the work performed at CCLC.
Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.
