This full time position under the FACE program is a Co-Teacher (assistant) for the center base classroom. This person plays a key role in working with the preschool teacher to provide a model for parents in how to teach, motivate, and discipline young children and serves as a strong influence on attendance and program retention by providing an environment that makes pre-schoolers eager to attend. This person will work as a member of the FACE team; recruiting, advertising, visiting families, writing newsletter articles, etc. to publicize program and encourage participation; plan and co-teach early childhood class under supervision of teacher; model appropriate adult-child interaction during PACT (Parent and Child Together) time; facilitate parent discussions; help parents access resources; attend required trainings; help plan and facilitate monthly parent meetings; do required monthly reports and data collection for BIE; complete end-of-year date for BIE; attend elementary staff meetings and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree in Early Childhood or related field required. Early childhood (ages 3-5) experience and working with adults/families is preferred. Skills in Potawatomi Language and cultural awareness preferred. Willingness/ability to attend training and staff development sessions; flexibility and creativity, good imagination; a sense of humor; pleasant personality, eagerness to work with both children and their parents or caregivers; eager/able to work in a team setting; able to maintain records as required by program, school, and community; understanding of the need for family support; respect for students; able to use computer, digital camera, other technology; able to maintain confidentiality.
WAGE: N4 $15.00 - $17.18 Dependent on experience and education.
