The Delta County Prosecutor's Office has an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney position available. The selected applicant's responsibilities will primarily focus on trial work in the Probate, District and Circuit courts. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing law enforcement agencies with legal advice, preparing search warrants, reviewing warrant requests, preparing arrest warrants, drafting motions, conducting legal research, writing legal memoranda and appellate briefs, and other responsibilities as directed by the Prosecuting Attorney.
The Delta County Prosecutor's Office is a busy office that will allow the selected applicant the opportunity to expand and hone in on their legal and trial skills. Located at the tip of the Lake Michigan, Delta County is the second largest county in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The 221 miles of Lake Michigan Shoreline, abundance of national forests, and state and county parks, makes Delta County one of Michigan's true treasures of unspoiled country. In addition to the natural beauty, Delta County has several resort-like communities and the town of Escanaba, where the courthouse is located. Escanaba has a city flare with beautiful neighborhoods and schools and a main street, Ludington Street, that runs about a mile and a half. For a town of this size, there are several local shops and artisans.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Michigan. For the exceptional candidate, we will consider law school graduates who are sitting for the next available bar examination.
- A valid Michigan Driver's License.
- Able to pass background check and physical.
Salary:
Anticipated starting at $57,842.35, plus benefit package (medical, vision, dental, life insurance, retirement and more).
