Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Public Works. Participates in all public works projects and assignments. Performs general labor in support of public works operations. Operates a wide range of associated equipment.
Job Functions: Provides general labor in support of public works projects and water and wastewater systems as assigned. Participates in tasks ranging from streets and sidewalk repair to parks and grounds maintenance.
Operates vehicle of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling, and unloading of equipment, materials, and supplies as assigned. Participates in street maintenance and repair projects such as snow and ice removal. patching, curb replacement and grading. as directed. Operates construction equipment utilized in street, sidewalk maintenance including backhoe, dump truck, grader, snow plow, street sweeper, jack hammer and other as assigned.
Participates in leaf pickup; mowing; raking; painting with parks and grounds maintenance projects
Operates heavy equipment; power equipment used in parks and grounds and cemetery
Other duties as assigned.
Education/Knowledge: High School Diploma. Experience required one or more years of work in maintenance, construction, or mechanical trades or related field. Must be able to obtain a valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Earn Michigan Department of Environmental Quality Certifications S-3, L-1 are required.
Knowledge in safety procedures and precautions. Basic knowledge of tools, materials, and equipment used in repair and maintenance of streets, buildings, water, and wastewater facilities and infrastructure, parks and ground.
