Electrical Project Engineer - Detroit, MI
The ideal candidate will have experience in the design, construction, and start-up of power, control, and process instrumentation systems for water, wastewater, and stormwater pump stations, industrial campuses, and facilities including implementation of computer control and data collection at primary and remote facilities. Electrical power experience to include the power distribution and protection of switchgear, motors/motor control centers, electrical panels, surge protection, transformers, medium voltage looped systems, and low voltage systems for municipal, commercial and industrial facilities. Also, experience in short circuit, protective coordination, and arc flash studies using Paladin DesignBase software is a plus.
You Will Be Responsible For:
Ensuring completeness of the electrical design and deployment/delivery details
Managing the process of compiling and coordinating plans, cost estimates, and pay items
Developing and reviewing cost estimates as well as monitoring and comparing to client expectations
Coordinating and/or reviewing drafting and assembly of the plan set
Overseeing layout and/or review drawings for a project
Assembling competent project communications, including meeting minutes, technical documents and complete reports that require little editing and meet the client expectations
Assuming responsibility for project design calculation files and assuring adequate independent quality control reviews on that work
Checking and signing off on electrical design calculations and plan elements prior to Quality Assurance
Assuming responsibility and ownership of the assigned project components
Developing project electrical design criteria for the assigned project components
Assuring compliance with project CADD standards
Understanding and monitoring the overall required scope and schedule for the project deliverables.
Identifying deficiencies and proposing corrective action
Fostering the team environment and promoting team communication while assisting in identifying and addressing team conflicts
What You Will Need:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline required
Minimum 10 years of experience in providing design and construction support of multiple electrical projects for municipal, state, federal, and private clients required
Current Professional Engineer's licensure with the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states
Demonstrated ability/experience with the following software: Bentley MicroStation/ProjectWise, AutoCAD, AGi32, Generator sizing software, Power systems analysis software (SKM PowerTools, Paladin DesignBase, etc.)
Excellent communication and client relation skills
