Job Summary
Coordinates and performs routine diagnostic procedures and operates radiologic equipment to produce clinical x-ray films according to established standards and practices. Receives and ensures the execution of physicians' orders.
Essential Functions
Performs general diagnostic radiologic procedures utilizing standardized positioning and immobilization techniques to minimize patient movement and maximize patient safety.
Operates radiographic equipment to produce clinical x-ray images of specified body areas as directed by the physician or radiologist, ensuring clear and undistorted films.
Exercises judgement in selecting and computing machine settings to compensate for such variances as patient size, age, sex and tissue density. Selects appropriate film, positions equipment at proper distance and angle, and adjusts cones or collimators to image a specified area.
Ensures the protection of patients from undue exposure to radiation through the utilization of lead shields and various safety factors.
Maintains imaging and processing equipment by performing scheduled tests and cleanings and documenting all results. Contacts service personnel and notifies management of malfunctioning equipment.
Provides mentoring and leadership to lower level radiographers and students.
Maintain patient information as needed by purging or updating patient film jackets and / or reports or film to ensure accurate patient records.
Assignments are moderately complex; follows established protocols and has some flexibility in exercising judgment within established parameters. Works under minimal supervision/instruction; may serve as technical specialist/trainer and mentor to less experienced staff.
Qualifications
Required Associate's Degree or equivalent years of experience in related field
Preferred Bachelor's Degree
2 years of relevant experience in radiology required
CRT-Radiographer (R) - ARDMS or ARRT upon hire
CRT-Bone Densitometry (BD) - ARDMS or ARRT upon hire
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association or ARC American Red Cross within 90 days required
