Health Fitness is looking for a passionate and experienced General Manager to launch our brand new Fitness & Recreation program located in Detroit, Michigan. This new and expansive fitness program will serve students, faculty, and the community within a local community college campus. As the General Manager, you will manage and direct all operational aspects of the fitness program in accordance with HealthFitness protocols, ensuring consistency amongst all communications, training, marketing, programs and services. You will be responsible for contract compliance, facility maintenance, development of and adherence to the year plan and program budget, supervision of managers, and you will act as the primary contact for both the client and HealthFitness as it pertains to the program.

Demonstrate the ability to lead, motivate, and manage team to achieve desired sales goals.
The GM will achieve and exceed sales plans and KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) for the club.
Leads the development and implementation of the yearly strategic business plan to identify contract deliverables, program/ service offerings and initiatives, targeted outcomes and marketing strategy to meet client objectives.
Ensures contract compliance. Manages client relationship to ensure that high customer satisfaction is maintained and HealthFitness value is reinforced. Coordinates contract renewal efforts.
Prepares and manages operating budget. Ensures expenditures are made in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. Negotiates staff compensation and/or management fee increases.
Manages the development of outcomes focused programs to meet client objectives; interfaces with client company management and peripheral departments as appropriate to assess client needs and identify HealthFitness programming solutions.
Ensures overall quality control. Ensures all facility operations and program activities are delivered in accordance with HealthFitness operational, quality, safety and service standards.
Collects participant, program and financial data for measurement of individual and program goal achievement, outcomes and results; creates outcomes focused management reports based on the identified business plan goals and objectives.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with HealthFitness policies, procedures and applicable laws including recruiting, orienting, training, evaluating, developing and planning the succession of associates. Provides training and development opportunities to promote and encourage career growth. Conducts formal performance appraisals on an annual basis and initiates formal corrective action process when warranted.
Ensures staff are properly trained according to established standards. Serves as a resource for managers/coordinators in handling customer relations issues.
Coordinates overall recruitment efforts.
Leads regular staff meetings and attends group staff meetings to ensure associates are informed about HealthFitness, client and program events, initiatives and status. Assists staff in networking and peer interaction efforts.
Attends city meetings to report facility and program updates to council.
Approves and/or submits employment forms, payroll records and billing worksheets accurately and according to contract provisions and HealthFitness policies. Assures revenue collection and expense payment processes are functioning correctly.

Education, Experience and Certifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Recreation, Business or related field OR 4+ years of relevant work experience in operations management, staff supervision, and program management (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
Five or more years of related industry experience, including two years of program management and staff supervisory experience.
Strong leadership, team management, interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including at minimum Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to work effectively with all levels of individuals both within HealthFitness and the client organization.
Preferred:
CPR/AED and First Aid certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety & Health Institute preferred, but will be required within first 30 days of hire.
Master's degree.
Certified Pool Operator certification.
American Red Cross Instructor Trainer certification.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification.
Certifications and experience in Personal Training and/or Group Exercise Instruction.
