GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Intake and Referral Counselor I coordinates crisis triage and intervention, referrals to Henry Ford Allegiance Health and other community resources, completes intake interviews and directs patients to appropriate area or agency for assessment for the care of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients who call or walk in to the Access Center. Gathers preliminary and necessary information from health care staff, the patient, patient's family, other health care professionals or facilities. Researches and verifies patients' insurance benefits as needed. Communicates and coordinates with other members of the health care team to ensure quality of care be given to all patients.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or other related field of study
Minimum Work:
Experience Minimum of one year behavioral health experience
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Professional integrity in handling confidential matters.
Computer proficiency including Microsoft Work, Excel and email applications. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
Previous experience in a crisis intervention or behavioral health services.
