Description
The position is responsible for building, editing, testing, and deploying marketing automation journeys and email communications to achieve the Credit Union strategic goals. This individual works closely with members of the Marketing and Communications and Business Intelligence teams to facilitate project execution ensuring alignment with business goals. This position assists in the creation, design and writing components to develop email communication and other promotional materials. They use expertise of automation and email marketing best practices to create exceptional campaigns to acquire new members and further engage existing members.
This position requires the ability to work during marketing department hours of operation, as well as some Saturdays and evenings.

Work Location
This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working both onsite at the Headquarters 1 building in East Lansing and remotely. A schedule of expected onsite and remote workdays will be discussed during the interview process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing Automation Specialist I
Lead marketing automation email communications to acquire new members and engage current members
Support development and execution of marketing technology roadmap by identifying opportunities to leverage existing and new technology for increased efficiency and effectiveness
Implement the automation and email strategy and testing roadmap by staying ahead of new developments in email and other channels
Identify and implement automation and email best practices to improve member experience and drive business results
Think end-to-end across member journey, and utilize segmentation, automation and customization, to create targeted and effective email nurture campaigns
Handle the creative design, personalization and messaging, delivery, and scheduling for all email marketing communications
Develop email campaigns including template design and messaging development, while maintaining brand voice
Collaborate with others on the Marketing & Communications team and coordinate creative development & production as well as cross-functional teams
Writes and designs monthly member, VISA, and transaction eStatement notices
Utilize insights to continuously iterate and improve engagement
Collaborate with management and compliance team as necessary to understand the legal, regulatory, and contractual compliance of email and other related digital marketing materials
Monitor and optimize deliverability and understand CAN-SPAM regulations
Maintain awareness and understanding of business initiatives, yearly plans, and key performance indicators
Work closely with Business Intelligence and IT to build data connections
Handles and produces marketing material and complies with Love My Credit Union partnership
Perform ongoing testing of subject lines, offers, creative, copy, and other testable variables. Present findings and implement best practices. Continually improve read, conversion, and retention rates
Manage email calendar
Proofreads own and other team member documents to verify their effectiveness in conveying the necessary message, correct as to imagery, content, grammar, spelling and typographical errors
Responds to employee questions regarding marketing promotions
Represents the credit union at events on campus and in the community promoting products and services
Participates in training activities within your department and with the learning and development department; such training helps to ensure staff compliance with Credit Union policies and state and federal regulations and laws
Performs special projects and assists other employees as assigned
Marketing Automation Specialist II
All of Specialist I duties and responsibilities
Handle the segmentation and analytics for all automation email marketing communication
Develop email workflows, measure and analyze automation and email performance metrics, develop reports, and generate insights to continuously iterate and improve engagement
Collaborate with management and compliance team as necessary to manage the legal, regulatory, and contractual compliance of email and other related digital marketing materials
Handle all unsubscribe and opt-out processes to ensure CAN-SPAM compliancy
Implement segmentation through the use of Query logic to generate the optimal audience per message
Save, analyze, and modify queries used in all marketing campaigns in order to continuously iterate and improve engagement
Understand core data and relations to the marketing automation platform, along with creating supplementary data fields to be used for additional marketing campaigns and targeting
Train identified specialists on programs and systems, along with different departments
Present and coordinate new ideas, special projects, and promotions
Maintain keen understanding of industry trends and make recommendations to management on initiatives in support of business goals and objectives
Act as a representative of the Marketing and Communications department on Credit Union wide projects while collaborating with others
Seek out and provide recommendations for process improvements that support department productivity and efficiency
