ABOUT ORIGAMI BRAIN INJURY REHABILITATION CENTER
Nestled on a beautiful 35 acre wooded smoke-free campus just outside of Lansing, Michigan, Origami is a CARF accredited, nonprofit organization offering a continuum of care for individuals who have sustained a brain injury. Origami provides more than medical care. We work as a team, bringing together committed professionals who use a unique interdisciplinary approach and a network of community resources to meet the physical, social, spiritual, cognitive, and emotional needs of those who have sustained a brain injury. Summary:
Develops and administers treatment as indicated by assessments and as prescribed by physicians under the direction of the assigned clinical instructor in order to provide quality rehabilitation services to clients.
Essential Duties:
Model appropriate behavior conducive to a positive working and therapeutic environment.
Observe all rules of confidentiality as they pertain to program participants internally, and in dealing with outside individuals and/or agencies.
Proactively initiate and follow-through with tasks utilizing appropriate problem solving techniques in order to facilitate communication flow and prompt resolutions.
Adhere to ethical guidelines set forth in the discipline the internship practices and in accordance with the State of Michigan regulations.
Attend clinical reviews and family conferences as appropriate, sharing responsibilities with the clinical instructor as appropriate.
Evaluate and document findings and prepare and implement treatment plans for clients in accordance with physician referral.
Record evaluations, daily progress notes, and discharge notes according to procedure in order to provide complete documentation for client charts.
Communicate client's progress to relevant stakeholders.
As deemed appropriate by clinical instructor, schedule client visits and complete portions of the billing processes in accordance to procedure.
Develop and upgrade treatment plan, independent exercise programs, etc.
Attend staff meetings, orientation, in-service training as assigned.
Contribute to the design and maintenance of effective and timely systems of documentation, including the collection and analysis of clinical outcome data.
Other duties as assigned.
Communication:
Physicians - in order to discuss client's progress and plan rehabilitation programs.
Team Members (therapists, living skills staff, rehabilitation aides, patient care technicians, etc.) - in order to facilitate client's treatment and discuss procedure.
External Stakeholders - in order to provide education and updates related in individual treatment plans.
Education and/or Experience:
The job requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be required by attending or completing the appropriate program to practice in the designated discipline. Level of education varies based on discipline and type of internship.
