Job Description
Job Summary
Responsible for performing direct patient care related to hemodialysis treatments under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Responsible for setting-up dialysis equipment and supplies in a safe manner. Collaborates with all members of the team for overall provision of optimal dialysis treatments.
Essential Functions
Performs point of care testing as required.
Performs all necessary duties to ensure and maintain quality of water used for Hemodialysis and documents as required.
Performs all parts of Hemodialysis machine set-up and required dialysate testing.
Provides and documents direct care of the patient during hemodialysis treatments under the direction of the RN.
Communicates with the patient and other members of the care team information related to the treatment, response to treatment and change in patient status.
Cleans patient's environment / work area / equipment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel.
Maintains various quality safety logs to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Qualifications
Required High School Diploma or equivalent and one year college education, health care courses preferred;OR success in a clinical support role for a minimum of one (1) year.
1 year of relevant experience recent, relevant patient care experience Preferred
Patient care experience in a dialysis setting Preferred
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association
CRT-Hemodialysis Technician, Certified (CHT) - BONENT Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing Technology
CRT-Clinical Hemodialysis Technologist, Certified (CCHT) - NNCC Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission
CRT-Medical Assistant, Certified (CMA) - AAMA American Association of Medical Assistants
CRT-Medical Assistant, Registered (RMA) - AMT American Medical Technologists
CRT-Nursing Assistant - PROMETRIC Prometric
Previous experience in Hemodialysis or previous health care experience preferred
