Global Data Insight & Analytics - Smart Mobility sits at the intersection of Autonomy, Connectivity & Electrification capabilities disrupting the traditional Automotive OEM market. We deliver analytic-driven software, consulting services, and advanced analytic solutions to Ford Global Customer Service, Ford Enterprise Connectivity, Ford Autonomous Vehicles, LLC and Ford Commercial Business. Our service delivery is focused to leverage emerging techniques which free our business customers to focus on their core business.
We are seeking experienced Data Scientists to add to our team to drive the next generation of Commercial Business. Data Scientists work in a Product Management Delivery model working end-to-end with business managers, product owners, product designers, data engineers, software developers to deliver next-gen analytics innovation.
This is an exciting, fast-paced role which requires outstanding organization skills combined with critical thinking, problem-solving and agile management tools to support team success.
What you'll be able to do:
As a Data Scientist, you will formulate approaches to solve problems using well-defined algorithms and data sources. You will incorporate an understanding of product functionality and customer perspective to provide context for those problems. You will use data exploration techniques to discover new questions or opportunities within your problem area and propose applicability and limitations of the data. Successful Data Scientists will interpret the results of their analysis, validate their approach, and learn to monitor, analyze, and iterate to continuously improve. You will engage with peer partners to produce clear, compelling, measurable output that influence product and service improvements. The form of this process will vary within Smart Mobility based on the customer area, the type of technology in use, and the complexity of product integration.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Strategic Thinking: Able to influence the strategic direction of the company by identifying opportunities in large, rich data sets and crafting and implementing data driven strategies that fuel growth including cost savings, revenue and profit.
Modeling: Assessments, and evaluating impacts of missing/unusable data, design and select features, develop and implement statistical / predictive models using edge algorithms on diverse sources of data and testing and validation of models.
Analytics: Utilize analytical applications like R, Python, Alteryx, ArcGIS to identify trends and relationships between different pieces of data, draw appropriate conclusions and translate analytical findings into business strategies or analytics software.
Data Engineering: Experience with creating ETL processes to source and link data in preparation for Model/Algorithm development. This includes domain expertise of data sets in the environment, third-party data evaluations, data quality
Visualization: Create visualizations to connect disparate data, find patterns and tell engaging stories. This includes both scientific visualization as well as geographic using applications such as QlikSense.
The minimum requirements we seek:
Bachelor's degree in geographic information system, industrial engineering, operations research, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or economics
2+ years of experience of statistical methods and their proper application e.g., principle component analysis, correspondence analysis, k-means cluster analysis, factor analysis, multi-variate analysis, data modeling, linear regressions, non-linear regressions, partial least squares techniques
2+ years of experience using statistical software (R, SAS, SPSS, STATA, Spark, and/or Python-based tools)
2+ years of experience working in a cross-functional, agile product team environment/analytic delivery team.
2+ years of experience in Automotive, Transportation, Digital Business, or Analytics Consulting
2+ years executive presentation preparation and delivery
2+ years of experience acting as the senior technical lead helping facilitate analytical/technical discussions on solution tradeoffs for new feature implementations.
5+ years of experience using MS-Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote)
Our preferred requirements:
M.S. or Ph.D. in geographic information system, industrial engineering, operations research, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or economics
Expert level of Advanced and Predictive Analytical Methods e.g., Simulation, Design of Experiments, Genetic Algorithms, Ensemble Methods, Naïve Bayes, Neural Networks, Support Vector Machines, Interaction Effects, Importance modeling, machine learning, regression, image processing, natural language processing, control charting, linear or mixed integer optimization
Expertise in open source data science technologies such as Python, R, Spark, SQL, Hadoop, etc. acquired through college course work, online training and certification or project development
Demonstrated expertise in commercial tools such as Alteryx, Qlikview, and Tableau acquired through training and/or implementation on projects
Self-motivated with excellent verbal and written skills
Proactive, great attention to details, results-oriented problem-solver
Ability to work under pressure, establish priorities and respond with urgency.
Consensus building and collaborative interpersonal skills.
Highly seasoned in organizational, time management, decision making and problem-solving skills
Familiarity working with Automotive OEM/ Ford connected vehicle data & relevant infrastructure (SCA-V, TCU4G, FordPass, RTSA, TMC, etc.)
Familiarity working with big data to develop scalable, production-ready solutions
