Job Description
At General Motors, we are building on our momentum and changing the way we do things. As we move towards our ZERO ZERO ZERO vision for the future, we are looking to add hardworking individuals to our Validation team!
As our world becomes more connected, we need our vehicles to reflect that as well. Connected Eco-systems give us that opportunity to enhance the customer experience by providing real-time updates through the cloud and give the latest and greatest information to the vehicle. In this position as the Telematics Validation Engineer, you will be exposed to the most advanced and connected technology of our future vehicles. You'll have the chance to use some creativity in problem solving to identify and remove roadblocks and ensure the customer receives a flawless product!
This position requires knowledge of connected infotainment/Telematics systems, and vehicle electrical architecture. You will have an opportunity to work on benches and in-vehicle validation. As the Validation Engineer you will need to exercise and apply both independent and team approaches working across organizations in a creative, robust, efficient manner while under general mentorship and direction from your Manager.

* Creatively incorporates ideas into processes, in partnership with all partners in a multi-functional team
* Is part of automation related initiatives and helps develop automation solutions for current and future GM projects
* Is part of discussions aiming the development of simulation tools to allow our team to move from Road to Lab to Math (R-L-M)
Responsibilities:
* Work within a team to coordinate validation efforts for multiple features relating to the responsible system.
* Perform integration bench/vehicle level testing
* Execute test plans
* Attend peer reviews
* Review supplier test results
* Ensure test property readiness
* Support Global Vehicle Build Request process by providing test vehicle needs
* Support feature scorecard entry by providing test status in Timing/Performance/Risk assessment format
* Review Warranty, Compass, and CTF data regularly for closed loop feedback.
* Develop test methods and models to be able to test integration with new safety critical components and features
* Automate test scripts to execute test procedures in a closed loop model environment
* Capture and analyze data to resolve issues
* Generate and release testing reports
* Provide interface for team to other departments and suppliers
* Develop and lead test methods in this growing area
Additional Job Description
Qualifications:
* BS in Electrical Engineering (Preferred) or other related Engineering Degrees
* Previous experience in automotive electrical testing and validation
* 1-2 years of experience in software and embedded controller design principles and validation processes (not including co-ops and internships)
* Must have a valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
* Proven skills in analysis and problem solving; able to recommend solutions and provide technical guidance
* Knowledge of laboratory practices, instrumentation, and vehicle electrical systems
* Diagnostic troubleshooting experience of electrical system
* Experience with serial communication protocols such as CAN (or GMLAN), LIN
* Familiarity with serial communication monitoring tools such as NeoVi, CANalyzer, CANoe
* Strong project management skills ability to establish achievement plans and then execute plans on time
