Job Description
Job SummaryAssesses, plans, implements and evaluates the Nursing Informatics Program. Promotes a model of continuous learning through participation in education, consultation, role modeling and research. Facilitates and supports learning opportunities for the organization's nursing informatics program.Essential Functions
Assumes responsibility for planning, managing and evaluating the Nursing Informatics program, including 24-hour responsibility of personnel, fiscal and material resources.
Serves as a role model for translating the functions of Nursing clinical care and information technology within all aspects of Patient Care Services, including inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and perioperative services, in both the adult and children's divisions.
Assumes accountability for the assessment of educational needs related to nursing informatics and develops, implements, evaluates, and revises educational programs, orientation, curriculum, and materials, using principles of educational theory and adult learning to enhance learner competence in collaboration with education colleagues.
Provides direction and support to nursing informatics staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Establishes work standards. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates staff and initiates personnel actions in accordance with organizational polices and procedures.
Develops, implements, and maintains the annual nursing informatics operating budget. Uses and evaluates appropriate resources and facilities to provide orientation/educational activities in a fiscally responsible manner.
Acts as a mentor related to open/direct communication and fosters team building. Provides leadership in a manner that is culturally sensitive and preserves autonomy, dignity and rights of patient's, families and staff.
Provides leadership to the Nursing Informatics Shared Governance Council.
Qualifications
- Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in nursing or related clinical field
Required Master's Degree or equivalent MSN with Informatics Specialty Preferred
- 5 years of relevant experience clinical Required
