Summary of Primary Purpose
Responsible for coordinating various HR functions in the following areas: hourly employees (recruiting, new hire orientations, performance evaluations, benefits processing, workers’ compensation, and employee relations) while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Responsible for maintenance of records and compilation/preparation of various reports.
Description of Major Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing the temporary staffing agencies and providing temp labor as needed.
- Maintain new employee orientation manuals and conduct new employee orientations regarding company policies, procedures and benefits. Ensure that required forms are completed and distributed accordingly.
- Enter information into the HRIS system. This includes new hires, terminations, merit evaluations/increases, promotions, transfers, etc.
- Coordinate the administration of various employee-health, welfare and retirement plans plant wide. Strive to ensure employees understanding of benefit programs by regularly generating communication and counseling employees/dependents as situations arise.
- Maintain employee personnel files in line with company policies and government regulations. Retain records according to company record retention requirements.
- Maintain open communication with all employees through postings on employee information board, responding to employee questions and fostering positive employee relations. Ensure that plant and office bulletin boards remain in an up-to-date and legal compliance manner.
- Update computer databases (employee listing, headcount, hires/terms, transfers, LOA’s, etc.) on a daily/weekly basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance required.
- Adheres to and complies too all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
Physical Requirements
Incumbent works in a manufacturing/office environment and will use the following equipment: computer, calculator, telephone, fax machine, copy machine. Incumbent will work an average 40 hours/week. Requires prolonged sitting (80%), occasional standing (10%) and occasional walking (10%). Requires twisting, stooping/bending, squatting/kneeling and reaching above, at or below shoulders. Requires lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. on a regular basis and occasionally up to 25 lbs. Visual requirements include near/far acuity, depth perception, and peripheral vision. Required safety equipment in manufacturing area: hair/beard net, safety glasses, and earplugs.
Qualifications
- Must have a High School Diploma. Requires basic educational background normally acquired through the completion of an associate degree and 3 years administrative or human resources experience. Comparable level of education and/or experience acceptable.
- Possess a high level of organizational skills and be detail-minded.
- Ability to communicate effectively and possess good inter-personal skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality on an on-going basis.
- Ability to convey a positive and professional image to applicants and employees.
- Must be proficient in the use of word processing and spreadsheet applications, preferably Microsoft Office (Word/Excel).
