Job Summary
A practitioner with a level of knowledge, skills and experience in dietetics practice necessary for the attainment and continuation of a Registered Dietitian credential. The Registered Dietitian's primary responsibilities include direct patient care through application of the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) including the completion of the nutrition assessment, determination of the nutrition diagnosis, developing nutrition focused, evidence based interventions (including the nutrition prescription i.e. diet/feeding order) and nutrition monitoring and evaluation for both inpatient and outpatient populations. Assits with programs, services or curricula that impact dietetics or promote optimal patient care.
Essential Functions
Identifies with and adheres to the code of ethics for the dietetics profession.
Performs nutrition screening to evaluate individual health, malnutrition and disease while adhering to the Standards of Practice in Nutrition Care for RDNs Implements the Nutrition Care Process to ensure individual health goals are established, monitored and achieved while adhering to the Standards of Practice in Nutrition Care for RDNs and organization policies.

Documents and maintains records according to the SOP for the RDN, legislation, regulations and organization policies.
Designs, selects and implements nutrition education strategies to meet the learning needs of the individual, group, community and population. Evaluates achievement of learning objectives by the patient and/or family. Provides appropriate follow-up in accordance with the patient's treatment goals. Refers patients for outpatient counseling, community, or home health services as appropriate.
Specific to Rehabilitation & Nursing Centers (RNCs): Registered Dietitian is to collaborate with Manager, Nutrition Services at least 4 hours every 60 days.
Maintains clinical productivity standards and accurate record keeping of daily clinical activities, including information for scheduling and billing.
Participates in community related nutrition event opportunities, assists with food service staff development programs, assists with competency assessments of peers, participates in departmental or patient care performance improvement projects, assists with data collection and evaluation of indicators to monitor the quality and appropriateness of patient/resident care, may serve as a co-investigator in dietetics research projects.
Qualifications
Required Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
Preferred Master's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field

A practitioner with a level of knowledge, skills and experience in dietetics practice necessary for the attainment of a Registered Dietitian credential. Entry level following successful completion of an accredited, supervised practice program at a health-care facility, community agency or foodservice corporation as required for registration status by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.Required
