Position is partially remote. Would require travel within Michigan to visit clinics.
The McLaren Medical Group EMR Trainer is responsible for providing Cerner Millennium/PowerChart and Allscripts Touchworks and training to physicians and clinic support staff throughout the ambulatory network. This position works with physicians and clinical staff to improve their knowledge of EMR functionality, to improve clinical documentation, improve efficiency, and to assess workflows. Training is conducted in a wide variety of settings, including: small/large classrooms, one-on-one, group meetings, at-the-elbow, and web-based virtual sessions. The EMR Trainer will provide on-site support at 'Go Live' following end user training to guide the clinic during new system adoption. This position is also responsible for teaching the requirements of different CMS quality related programs. This position serves as the subject matter expert for testing and maintaining EMR applications. The EMR Trainer will provide ongoing support and continued education to all departments within McLaren Medical Group.
Provides Cerner Millenium/PowerChart and/or Allscripts Touchworks training to physicians and clinic support staff.
Provides on-site 'Go-Live' support, working hands-on with physicians and clinic support staff to guide them through the challenge of new system adoption.
During 'Go-Live' implementation, assists physicians and support staff with altering current office workflows in order to incorporate new EMR workflows.
Incorporates new curriculum as requested. Identifies learning objectives and cost-effective delivery methods. Assists with creating and maintaining new curriculum/course and associated deliverables.
Identifies recurring points of confusion for end-users, and develops tip sheets, e-learning, and/or other curriculum to address gaps in understanding.
Monitors and audits EMR systems for correct usage; conducts follow-up visits to address gaps in learning.
Analyzes quality reports; provides continual education to physicians and office staff to address gaps.
Acts as a liaison to all MMG offices to ensure consistency of system usage.
Monitors EMR system performance, and reports to Information Technology when anomalies, errors, inaccuracies, or inefficiencies occur.
Assists physicians and office staff by trouble shooting system usage. Coordinates with the IT vendor when system errors are found.
Provides workflow and system setup expertise to leadership or other departments within McLaren network.
Assists IT in maintenance of EMR Training Environments. Creates training scenarios, inputs scenarios into training environments.
Tests applications as part of User Acceptance Testing (UAT), to identify issues and ensure functional operation of the EMR; reports environment issues to IT EMR application support team.
Assists in development of operational goals and workflow solutions to reach goals.
Assists department managers to identify Super Users; train and work with Super Users when testing new workflows, and have them assist in identifying process or workflow issues in clinic or with other users.
Completes projects utilizing word processing and database programs.
Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required:
Associate's degree in computer technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2 years' experience in physician office (clerical and/or clinical) and/or Physician Billing and/or Business Information Systems departments.
Training experience (1 year) in a variety of settings, including small/large groups, classroom, on-site, etc.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
Ability to travel to ambulatory offices in all McLaren Regions, including but not limited to; Northern Michigan, Central Michigan, Bay, Lansing, Flint, Lapeer, Oakland, Macomb and Port Huron with schedule flexibility, if necessary. Preferred:
Previous Allscripts Enterprise experience.
Previous Cerner Millennium/Power Chart experience.
Familiarity with CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) rules and regulations.
Knowledge of McKesson Horizon Practice Plus system, and Physician Billing supported applications.
Knowledge of medical terminology (75%), and coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPC).
65 kspm on data entry test (less than 20 minutes, less than 20 errors).
