Exotic Automation and Supply is currently looking for a Junior Buyer to join the team in a full-time capacity at our brand-new headquarters in New Hudson, MI. New Hudson is located between the cities of Wixom and South Lyon. We are conveniently located on Grand River Ave. easily accessible from both the Wixom and Milford Road exits off I-96.
Responsibility summary includes, but not limited to : As a purchasing agent for the organization, the Junior Buyer will research, evaluate, and buy products to meet daily operational needs and e nsure delivery of excellent customer service. Related activities include, but are not limited to, inventory control, creating and maintaining purchase orders, negotiations, product support, invoicing discrepancies, supplier relations and expediting.
Analyzes and manages forecasting parameters for all assigned product lines.
Completes regular analytical reviews of inventory levels to determine an appropriate course of action. Implements action and escalates according to approval protocol as necessary.
Responsible for the analysis of planned and non-stock purchases to ensure economic order levels while achieving premier customer service.
Responsible for analyzing purchasing trends and negotiating the best price on purchased materials.
Responsible for supply-chain knowledge to support sales on assigned product groups.
Solve problems with orders and resolve all receiving and invoicing discrepancies. Develop solutions to reduce future occurrences.
Expedites or resources orders where normal follow-up and/or expediting is not meeting objectives.
Investigates, identifies and selects suppliers using criteria such as quantity of commodities, price and delivery date, and develops/maintains a positive relationship.
Evaluates and qualifies speculative and customer-driven inventory requests and escalates in accordance with approval guidelines.
Evaluates and reviews supplier performance with suppliers and management. Initiates supplier corrective actions as necessary
Identifies competitive products, converts to Exotic primary manufacturer, and documents such activities.
Effectively communicates and executes cost-saving strategies for the organization.
Evaluates slow-moving inventory and develops and implements strategies to reduce or eliminate surplus.
Facilitates annual supplier returns.
Monitors and utilizes supplier websites for notices, forums, catalogs, and tools.
Performs a weekly review and disposition of warranty and purchasing non-conforming items.
Responsible for developing, utilizing, maintaining department work instructions in accordance with current standards.
Manages department KPIs and develops strategies to achieve goals.
Schedules and completes regular visits with suppliers and branches.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Bachelor's degree in Business-related field (will consider equivalent work experience).
One (1) year purchasing work experience-distribution environment preferred (college courses and/or internship may be substituted).
Solid understanding of economic ordering and inventory control strategies.
Strong PC skills (Including all Microsoft Office Applications).
Good mathematical ability.
Organizational skills required to prioritize, plan and coordinate work activities and resources in area of responsibility.
Sales and negotiation skills required to provide full support of company initiatives.
Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with associates, customers, business partners and management team. Demonstrated teamwork approach with superiors, peers and subordinates utilizing skills in oral communication, active listening, written and oral directions and cooperating with and assisting others when needed.
