Main Duties & Responsibilities
Work as a key member of the
Corporate Finance Department, with a primary focus on accounting and financial
reporting related to financial statements, footnote disclosures and other
elements of SEC annual and quarterly reporting requirements. This position also will work with TriMas'
divisions on a number of their key initiatives, including being the corporate
lead for three key common business processes, as well as enhancing our use of data
analytics to gather and interpret transactional-level data to better understand
and predict financial results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties
may be assigned.
- Assist
in periodic close and reporting, utilizing Blackline, BPC, Workiva, and other
tools to consolidate financial data to ensure complete and accurate financial
statements and disclosures.
- Ensure
annual and quarterly reported financials have adequate support and provide
external audit support for financial information as necessary.
- Lead
responsibility for accounting and reporting for leases, including acting as the
Company's administrator for the lease software system.
- Assist
division leadership with the approval and monitoring of capital expenditures,
using the Company's system to add, track, route, and obtain approval of capex.
- Work
with division IT and Finance leaders to extract data, and then
analyze/interpret and communicate results, including the Company's daily
shipments and bookings report
- Oversee
and perform certain internal control activities, including the review and analysis
of key account reconciliations to support division finance departments in identifying
and addressing accounting and reporting matters.
- Assist
in developing a common approach to data analytics and reporting under the TBM.
- Gain
understanding of division operations and develop relationships with division
finance and operating personnel.
- Oversee
the completion of financial forms and surveys while working closely with
divisions to ensure TriMas' compliance with certain government agency reporting
requirements.
- Attend trainings
related to above responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education
and/or Experience
Required:
College or university program certificate; or two
to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience. Area of study
finance and accounting. Prior experience
in external reporting or public accounting.
Certificates,
Licenses, Registrations
Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Language
Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and
technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints
from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information
to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical
Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts,
interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and
volume. Ability to apply concepts of
basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning
Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and
draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical
instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and
concrete variables.
Computer Skills
Proficiency
in Microsoft Office required, with experience in an ERP or data analytics
platform preferred.
Other
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge
of financial closing processes, SEC reporting, internal controls, technical
accounting research, project management, and strong computer skills to extract
and interpret data. Knowledge of process improvement and experience in auditing
preferred.
